Raising awareness and knowledge regarding nutrition, disease prevention, first aid, diabetes and maternal health information empowering healthier lives.
Our health projects raise awareness and knowledge to empower Tajiks to lead healthier lives. We have translated and printed various health resources in the local language including in braille and audio format. Our main project currently is working with children with type 1 diabetes (T1D). We have been partnering with the National Republican Endocrinology Centre (NREC) to support children and youth with T1D since 2008. Since 2011 we have been helping the NREC to communicate with Life for a Child who has been supporting them with insulin, glucometers and other help. We aim to continue to strengthen the capacity of the NREC as well as other centres and endocrinologists in the areas of diabetes as well as hypothyroidism.Community Health in Northern Tajikistan

Building the capacity of nurses and health volunteers.
In the Pamir Mountains of Gorno-Badakshan in Tajikistan, Operation Mercy works to equip nurses to be educators in their communities. Using highly relevant and participatory tools for needs assessment, teaching and evaluation Operation Mercy builds the capacity of nurses and health volunteers to form a group of village women, build trust and community amongst them, discover their health concerns, and to address them, whilst sharing their new knowledge with their neighbours.
