Perseverance Brings Progress

The theme for the United Nations World Downs Syndrome Day on March 21st, 2022, asks the question: “What does inclusion mean?” For Karima, a 5-year-old a girl with Downs Syndrome in Tajikistan, inclusion means being part of her loving family as well as the community through Operation Mercy’s partner organization which promotes her development and celebrates her abilities!

Karima was four years old when she first visited Operation Mercy’s implementing partner. She is very attentive, and she loves playing with other children. Karima is the fourth child in the family, and everyone in her family loves her. Her mother works hard to help her daughter to fulfill her potential. Her success is significant, and she and the family contribute to this. Her mother and her teachers closely cooperate, which is important for Karima’s development. Karima has improved in her self-care skills and every day she learns something new and makes visible progress!
