Madina* has a daughter, Sitora*, who has a disability. Madina had difficulties coming to the course about massage therapy for Sitora, because she had a stroller which was designed for smooth surfaces, but which was very difficult to use on rough roads, and often broke. Sitora was getting too heavy for Madina to keep lifting and carrying when the stroller was broken. It was also extremely difficult to get onto crowded public transport with the stroller, and even harder to hold it and her daughter once onboard. Sometimes the public transport didn’t even stop for them, and they had to walk until the next bus on the rough road.
Imagine the difference for Madina and Sitora when they received a new wheelchair! At first it was difficult for Madina to get Sitora to sit in the wheelchair, but once she was in, she loved it and didn’t want to get out! Now Sitora doesn’t like her mother to help to push the wheelchair, she wants to do it all on her own.
Their lives have certainly changed. Madina says that after receiving the wheelchair she has seen progress in Sitora’s emotional and physical development. The doctor who does massage therapy also confirmed that Sitora’s health had improved in the two months after getting the wheelchair. Madina said that the wheelchair has made their lives easier, it has improved Sitora’s development and given them hope.
